Follow ur heart :)

Don’t you wish everything in life was just perfect?
Imagine this- we are all born into the perfect family (full of love, care and laughs), go through a perfect childhood, a perfect adolescence (no growing pains, no heartbreaks), the perfect job (great salary, top position, on top of the game) and the perfect happily-ever-after (loving partner, great kids, just one big happy family)…sounds good right? In fact, too good to be true!
This sounds good for a movie or a fairy tale…but here’s real life – a family where mom and dad fight, too strict, too many rules, school by the time you’re three, get those good grades(or you’re screwed),struggle with exams, why can’t you just get over that new hottie you saw, growing pains, teenage mania, a hundred failed interviews, the boss is such a monster, why can’t your spouse love you more, kids are driving you nuts, don’t start with the in-laws, bills bills bills and finally… you’re just pulling out your hair regretting something or the other in your life…
Every step of the way there are regrets…they keep building up until you finally reach a point where they boil over leaving you frustrated and upset…
Wishing for a perfect life is unrealistic…no one has a perfect life…no one…though people might show a different face in front of others everyone is going though some problem or another…
You might think your friend’s life is perfect but he/she is probably thinking the same about yours.
Life is never perfect, never fair…
Every step of the way you make choices, you choose paths, and sometimes they are the right ones that get you straight where you want to go, other times you choose a path full of diversions, no-entry’s and dead –ends leaving you feeling discouraged, hurt and unhappy…
But here’s the thing – just because you chose a path where you had to face a few obstacles or dead-ends, just because the choice you made was bad doesn’t mean that it’s the end of the world…that you are forever destined to be unhappy…
Don’t you just wish there was a rewind button and you could change your life? But there is no such option…
There are many what if’s in life…
Many uncertainties in life…
You don’t know what the future holds, what’s going to happen…
So instead of living in fear of what’s going to happen, thinking you could have done something, thinking about chances missed, if you feel you have to do something, that you want something don’t wait around and then when you’re 50 years old tell your grandchildren about how you would have done something or had a happier life if you had just done what you felt in your heart…
Live a life without regrets…
After all, life is too short to spend waiting around and regretting what you could have done…
And while you’re looking at your regrets you might miss what great things you have now…
So never hesitate…
The future will come when it comes…
Follow your heart…
And never regret any choices you make…
Have a great day :)

Men are from Mars!

Men are from Mars. Really. Understanding them and dealing with them is a task in itself. Apparently they are simpler than women. Men complain that women are hard to satisfy and hard to understand. True we are a bit more complex. After all God did create his masterpiece (women) after completing his rough draft (men).Just Kidding! But we aren’t really that hard to satisfy if the guys just paid a little bit more attention. Anyway, back to men:
Men are practical. It’s ingrained in them, just like women are emotional. It’s a good thing, at times. Times like when you need your accounts checked or when you need to organize or manage something in the office. It is not a good thing, however, to be practical when you’re needed to be sensitive and supportive.
Example: I’m lamenting to my friend about my oh-so-sad life and he cuts me off with his hey-you’ve-got-the-wrong-idea-let-me-give-you-solutions speech. What I need right then is for someone to talk to not a solution. Guys look at everything kind of like an equation where you figure out the values of x, y and z, substitute them and you’ve solved it! That was exactly how my friend was talking to me, as if I had just handed him a math equation and he made it sound so easy. This practical nature is so great at other times when I really need those solutions but at times all a girl expects is for the guy to be quiet, listen and just be there for her.
Guys never listen. Especially if they are watching TV, playing on the computer, game cube, PS3, Wii or some other gaming console. Try telling them the sky is falling and they’d look at you, nod and go right back to what they were doing. Guys complain they don’t know what gifts to buy for girls because they are so hard to satisfy. Maybe if they listened more often they would know. Guys also never listen when we tell them where things are, which is why they end up searching the whole house looking for something which is right in front of them. They also complain that girls don’t tell them how they feel – yes we do, a 100 times and still guys don’t listen.
Example 1: My grandpa was looking for the newspaper and asked my mom where it was. My mom told him it was on the bed several times until he found it himself a half hour later. Then he tells my mom I asked you but you never told me!
Example 2: I’m telling my friend that I couldn’t make it to church that morning. He’s on the computer. After he says oh ok and keeps going ’ok’ and ‘yeah’ I ask him if he has any idea what I’m talking about and he says ‘sure, you were telling me what happened when you went to church’
Men are immature at times. If you ever notice how guys play with each other when they are alone it sometimes makes you wonder whether they are human or monkeys on vodka. Except some, not all guys are immature to that extent.
Men also never admit that they are wrong. At least not all men do, I don’t want to generalize. Hurt their pride and they will never come near you again. They like to think they are right all the time. Guys never read the instructions because they are so capable, then they mess something up. There’s always a girl around reading the instructions if you notice. They also hate asking for directions. It is perfectly clear that they are lost but, asking for directions? No way! They have a built in GPS along with a never faltering ego.Guys are frustrating and hard to please but in all fairness to guys there are some really great qualities about them.

And it’s true what they say– “You can’t live with them, can’t live without them

Friend

I believe friends are angels in disguise. I believe they have been sent to each one of us in one form or another, be it a parent, a neighbor, a lover, a classmate, a colleague or that random person you met at that long queue and struck up a conversation with who now happens to be your best friend. Friends are the first ones you go to when you need to talk, when you need a shoulder to cry on. The ones you go to when you think no one else will understand you. They are also the ones who accept you, mood swings, tears, bad days, good days and all. They are the ones who know you in and out, your secrets, your past, that side of you that you’d rather no one saw and still accept you and love you anyway.
If you’re lucky you might find a friend who lasts you a lifetime. Else, you might be like me, trying to cherish all the memories and hold on only to those moments that remain. When you’ve been friends with someone for a while, when you know each other well, you tend to take them for granted. That’s probably the biggest mistake you’ll ever make. Taking this delicate relationship or any other relationship for that matter, which requires nurturing, loving and attention for granted is the reason we lose that relationship. That delicate, beautiful gift. It’s so easy to lose it. I’ve learnt it the hard way.
Sometimes you fight and that only means you care and know that a fight wont break this bond. Sometimes the biggest fights seem so insignificant when you look back on them later. Sonetimes you look back together and laugh at them and other times its just better to forgive and forget. Sometimes a fight ends the relationship and it is better left alone.
I've learnt that not always can you save a friendship. I've learnt that every friendship, however long the duration, changes you and teaches you a few lessons. I've also learnt that the word friend is the most misused word. People sometimes use you in the name of a friend. People take advantage of you in the guise of a friend at times.
Eventhough it is misused at times, friendship is one of the best things in life. I've made many friends, I've lost a few, a few have used me, a few only remain in my memory but i cherish every one of them. Regardless of whether the friendship still exists or not, whether we are still in contact or not, whether we see each other or not i still cherish each and every one of them and i still care the same. Maybe thats a weakness, but i feel its better that way to never hate or forget a friendship because of a few misunderstandings or distance.
To all my friends - whether we still see each other, or talk to each other, whether we fought or misunderstood each other...I love you guys :)

Make ur own paper crane

The paper crane is a symbol of peace, hope and good wishes....The person who folds a thousand paper cranes will have their hearts desire according to stories.... :)

A Thousand Paper Cranes

Being the month of august there are so many important events and dates....August 6th and 9th are the Hiroshima and Nagasaki peace days...
The world was on a high of the new technology and weapons...no one knew the destructive power that they so badly seeked to control and conquer...
This is one of the stories that really touched my heart....
It is the story of a girl and a thousand paper cranes....
A story of believing and hoping for a new day even amidst all the horror and pain after the destruction that took place in Hiroshima and Nagasaki...
Sadako Sasaki was only two years old when Hiroshima was destroyed. Her house was only a mile away from the epicenter of the blast. Her mother found her at home and took her to saftely. Everything was fine for this girl who had now turned twelve and loved running and had even won several trophies. Life had started to resume after the disaster but many were suffering. Whaat started out as a fainting spell for Sadako soon followed up with purple bruises all over her legs and body.

She was diagnosed with leukemia and was given a year to live. During one of the hospital visits, one of her friends brought her a square, golden piece of paper and folded into a beautiful paper crane (a symbol of good luck and peace). She saw many others being gifted paper cranes also and became curious as to what these cranes symbolized. According to the story, a person who folded a thousand paper cranes would be granted their hearts desire. Sadako, inspired by the story began to fold paper cranes with whatever little pieces of paper she found such as medicine wrappers, hoping for recovery and to return to her friends and family.

As the days passed her condtion and the condition of those in the hospital just like her worsened and she began to understand that she might not survive. She began to wish instead now for peace and hope to reign in the world so that nothing like this would ever happen again and no one would ever have to suffer again. Some versions of the story say that she indeed completed a thousand cranes and continued to fold more for others. Another version says that she never made it past 644 cranes and that her friends continued making the 1000 paper craned and sealed it in the coffin with her.

After her death her friends and family raised funds to build a memorial for her and in 1958 a statue of Sadako holding a golden paper crane was unveiled at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial. She gave hope to many others and every year people gather to make thousands more of the paper cranes and string them around the memorial praying and hoping for peace in the world.

My very 1st blog!!!!

I started this blog because I became interested in blogging after viewing my friend's blog. At first I wasn't sure what kind of blog i would create. It took me a while just staring at the computer and the blank 'compose' screen to realize i could blog about anything i wanted. It didn't have to be anything spectacular, just something i found interesting, something that i loved. What do i love? I love anything poetic, artistic, romantic, inspirational, crazy....anything that makes me feel like - this is a part of me...
I'm one of those people who thrives on living life based on what i feel is right and what i feel is right in my heart. It's not always a good thing, i have been advised, but hey,it's much better than that person out there who hasn't experienced the feeling of choosing to do something they love even though they might fail. Knowing that i choose to do whatever my heart says, what ever i feel at the moment, impulsive and immature as it may sound seems like a much better way to live than to always be practical (even though being practical is a requirement).
Anyway, this blog will hopefully be helpful, inspiring and maybe even i will learn a few things....and as the blog is named- I only believe in this:
"To thine own self be true" - I swear there is no better way to live :)
